We're all moved in!!! (And, I need your advice)

Hubby landed in the hospital for 5 days due to an infection that resulted from his abcessed molar. Things got harry for awhile. I told him, "he's the only person I know that ever had to be admitted to the hospital for a tooth ache" jeez Louise...Anyway, everyone is safe & sound and I hope it's that way for you too!

Now on to the FUN stuff!! As I approach my decorating, I am considering changing a few things and I want your opinions...

Here are a few ideas that I contemplating~Let me know what you think:

What do you think about a similar style headboard with....

Hubby has been busy working and dealing with an abscessed tooth!)....

Seeking the Invisible

There's a certain sanctity in unique elements that cross my path
and I have to believe they are put there for a reason.
Perhaps I am seeking that, which while visible, are something so much more.
There comes a time in our lives where we realize the material world
consumes too much our intrinsic values and doesn't offer anything in return?

As I progress on my journey, I am discovering that once again the most important things
in life are the things that one cannot smell, touch, taste, buy, or see with the naked eye;
but rather it's the invisible that when we listen for it, reveals itself to us by way of
an awakening...enlightenment...spiritual, if you will, and stirs something within us so deeply
that as silent as it seems begs to be heard.

Returning to our roots, the dirt and the dust from which we come
provides all that is real, tangible, and sacred.
It tugs at the heart soul until you heed its call.
It's like unleashing a horse into the wild-where at last it knows it's free.

~with tattered wings I fly
and a tarnished halo I grow
~looking out from the inside
and letting my pride go
I see my path more clearly
into the unknown

"Eclectic Romance" & a DIY project

I am about halfway done with the move. We moved all the small stuff this past week/end and are getting a truck this coming weekend to move the rest of the furniture. But I wanted to take a minute to visit blog land~

Did you watch the Junk Gypsies TV debut on Saturday night? it was kind of cool hearing what Amie & Jolie sound like, having never met them before.
Here's a snippet of what it was about in case you missed it:
(**EDITED** to add correct link to video)

"The Junk Gypsies make over a bedroom for a farm couple in search of some funky romance. They repurpose an old barn gate into a headboard, turn vintage wedding dresses into romantic curtains and create a one-of-a kind hat rack" (HGTV, 2012).

I was a bit surprised by the Shabby Chic theme they went with, but it was done in JG style, so it was definitely unique cool!!

I surf the net from time to time for new ideas and stumbled across a candle idea that I thought I'd share, because I think it'd be great in a romantic room setting-
(scraps of lace hot glued to your basis white candle)
Aren't they pretty?

In the land of mist

So I managed to get the house clean where we are moving to and got some rugs laid down, when all of a sudden, a few nights ago, I was awake half the night with a fever.

My allergies/asthma have finally gotten the better of me and turned into a major respiratory infection. I've been living on soup, antibiotics, and a humidifier (Vicks mist).
So I've been ralxing and tring to save up my energy for the move this weekend (and probably the next.)

I tried to make a quick trip around blogland to visit a few and now I must return to the land of shadows and mists....

(P.s. I did get some "before" pictures to share soon)

Tomorrow the transition begins

My husband is sometimes gone 4-5 weeks at a time, with only the weekends off because he travels throughout Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee for his job as a trainer for a big company. So I've done the bulk of the packing (he's responsible for all the stuff in our his garage though, tee hee) and this weekend we are finally going to begin moving into our new place.

I went there with my sons tonight, just to walk around and look at it one more time, thinking about what I'll put where and which kid gets which room. Luckily they wanted the bedrooms I had hoped they'd choose. Serendipity!

I found the above image online (Google). I've been seeing alot of plaid fabric lately and that perhaps I'll try to sew something similar. Or maybe not?

Have a great weekend, Y'all!

Taking a moment

To wish think out loud...

I was born on a horse farm in the Midwest, and later I moved away from there and spent my childhood growing up in a small town without the sights, sounds, and smells of the country.
I did, however, return every summer to stay with my aunt and cousins in an old farmhouse.

When I got a bit older, I became attracted to the sparkling city lights and found myself moving to a city far from home, where I would spend 20 years of my life pursuing the "American Dream".

After meeting hubby, we moved back to his home town in Georgia. Where he, at one time, owned several hundred acres and attempted to make a living growing corn, (I think it was). Essentially, like the defunct silo where I once played hide and seek in during those warm summer country nights, both of our time spent in the country is just a figment of our memory now.

And now, more than ever before, I seem to have a strong and relentless tugging at my hear to return to that environment...the country, where I might be able to have a horse and a flutter of tiny farm creatures that I can spend my days photographing and writing about. Sort of like Beatrix Potter.

This feeling won't let me go. I try and try to avoid thinking about it, but it seems the more I try, the more pronounced that desire returns.

I can't let go of it, nor it of me.

All pictures (except for the horse) were taken in the historic center of my downtown area, where they have compiled older homes and such in one centralized area for visitors and tourists, alike, to explore.
I thought they fit in nicely with my daydream.

A new path awaits & wellies

I am carefully packing and arranging all of our items into boxes of tissue paper
to prepare the objects for a new life in a new place.
Curtains will be hung and things will be placed just so.
Rugs will be laid out to welcome all who enter and
carefully placed items will hopefully tell a story of those who live within.

I am already planning a shopping trip to Georgia this summer, perhaps early Fall,
to some of my favorite antique stores to help fill the spaces that I know will be.

On another note, I recently ordered a pair of Wellies and they arrived yesterday...
after the storm had passed.
I am thinking that I'd like a pair in RED~

I love how wellies look so at home in a mudroom-

Well my lovelies here in blogland, I am going to start bringing stuff over to our new place this week, so if it is awhile before you hear from me again, please know that I am thinking about you!
I always feel as though I am missing something important when I don't check in everyday.
And essentially I am -- You!!

Earth Day Spirit

Victoria, a beautiful soul, artist, and poetess is hosting an Earth Day celebration and I have decided to join in.

Hidden Hideaway

Just beyond the realm of my imagination
exists a place, which I speak of often
that only I can see.

It's a place that is a collage of various threads,
woven into a colorful tapestry.
It's neither here or nor there,
but yet it's everywhere.

I go to it from time to time
sharing glimpses of it with hubby,
wishing that he could see what I keep tucked away
deep in my imagination.

It's a world scarcely populated,
or if it is, there are kinfolk there
whose dreams are like mine &
whose eyes sparkle with care
for this land we call home,
this land we must share.

I tread softly upon her
knowing that she can't be replaced.
Yet I watch in despair
how others carelessly place
their brick and mortar and wires and gears
as if she'll be able to maintain it
year after year.

I tread softly upon her
collecting only memories,
fallen leaves,
acorns, as if they were diamonds
and
colorful berries.

This is my home
this is your home
Love it, protect it, care for it.
Be a guardian of the Earth!

By the way, I am starting a new blog, where I will share my with yoU my passion for Autumn, Literature & Books, and Nature. I have long collected quotes and such from some of the most brilliant minds of our times (and the past), whose wisdom, I feel, is too profound to ignore and then I mix in vivid imagery.
If this sounds like something that might interest you, you are welcome to follow along.

I'm running away from home

Not in the literal sense of the word, but I am planning a hiking trip for later this summer and I can't help but be taken away by the memories in my mind of previous visits to my most sacred place on earth.
It's a spot, whose crests rim the Appalachian Trail, where gorges, river rocks, and waterfalls mingle ever so splendidly in the quiet hush of the forested landscape.
